It's a lovely /z but is a bit exuberant in comparison to the pretty sober other italics. If you do keep it, it might need to be a little taller. Perhaps italic /r could be narrower.2 -

But how many type designers (now, or in history) disambiguate Latin O from Cyrillic O from Greek Omicron? or Latin X from Cyrillic Kha from Greek Chi?1
